We uplift each other by painting wall murals with communities to bring hope.

OUR VISION

“Many people live in difficult situations and environments. If they cannot express themselves, it can leave them feeling alone and forgotten, powerless to change their circumstances.

In our work, we share life with communities and invite them to paint walls with us. When people express themselves on a common canvas, they rediscover their voice and their ability to create change.”

We’re working with:

- forgotten communities and places.

- communities who are experiencing repression and stagnation.

- communities who are facing challenging situations.

HOW DO CUP OF COLOR WORK?

1. GET READY - To Prepare

To get started on a new project, we put together a project team which involves partners (local NGO / Non-profit) who work closely with the target group. We like to work with small organisations that allow direct connection to the local people in order to ensure participation and engagement from the local communities.

We take time to research each particular situation, to understand the stories of the people so the visual image will be culturally appropriate and be able to communicate effectively to the people.

2. ART TO CHANGE - Wall Projects

Together we create hopeful murals
to create oases in the desert,
meeting places for those in desperate circumstances.

A key component of our artwork is involving people from the local communities, both to learn about them and their values and to get their input about what they need and would value. Our aspiration is that the images we create will be relevant to them, because they inspired by their stories, and that they would feel part of it.

Wall images contain the power to inspire
and to break through relationship boundaries without spoken language.

When they are located in their daily surroundings, they become meeting points where people gather and connect. We believe that there is immense value in confronting and dealing with pain/grief/loss/trauma and it has been our experience that the people involved in creating the hope murals have gained a more hopeful outlook on life and improved self-esteem and the local society has benefitted from a reduction in levels of violence and aggression.

  • Community Arts: Painting walls with people from the community.

  • Hope Painters: Painting individual walls at people’s homes.

3. ART TO INSPIRE - Curating Events

We organise a variety of events to raise awareness of the social and community issues, by telling our incredibly challenging and desperate stories through art exhibitions and talks.

4. SUPPORT - HELP US TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!

With every single donation, you will provide a cup of color to paint hope in the darkness. Your donation will contribute directly to our community art projects, which will make a significant impact on the lives of people facing pain and desperate situations.

“Cup of Color” is a self-funding non-profit organisation, our work is not financially supported by our project partners.
